Background & Aims: HBV infects over 257 million people worldwide and is associated with the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Integration of HBV DNA into the host genome is likely a key driver of HCC oncogenesis. Here, we utilise targeted long-read sequencing to determine the structure of HBV DNA integrations as well as full isoform information of HBV mRNA with more accurate quantification than traditional next generation sequencing platforms. Methods: DNA and RNA were isolated from fresh frozen liver biopsies collected within the GS-US-174-0149 clinical trial.
Peripartum cardiomyopathy is a relatively rare condition, that usually presents with features of heart failure in the peripartum period. The ongoing pandemic caused by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been reported to be associated with myocarditis, with progression to dilated cardiomyopathy and heart failure. Dilated cardiomyopathy in a peripartum patient with COVID-19 infection may present a diagnostic dilemma. We report a case of dilated cardiomyopathy in a peripartum patient with COVID-19 infection. She presented with shortness of breath in the peripartum period.
Problem: Today, one in four children in the world lives in an area of conflict or disaster, and more than 30 million have been displaced, enslaved or trafficked, abused, and exploited. However, there is little recognition of nursing interventions in this context and their impact on the quality of life. Eligibility Criteria: Studies that (1) Described nursing interventions in children under situations of armed conflict. (2) Identified the impact of the interventions in the Quality of Life. (3) identify research trends in the field by nursing professionals.
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a major public health priority. In the present study, a lateral flow strip combined with the recombinase polymerase amplification (LF-RPA) assay was developed and evaluated for rapid HBV detection. A primer/probe pair targeting the conserved region of the HBV genome was designed and applied to the LF-RPA. TheRPA was achieved at the isothermal temperature of 39℃ for 30 min, and the RPA products were detected using the LF test. DNA extraction, RPA reaction and endpoint detection will take about 70 min.
Compared to other climate regions of the world, Mediterranean regions are likely to experience more severe effects of climate change as rainfall decreases and temperatures increase. Global climate change models predict a reduction in rainfall and rise in the temperature of rivers in South Africa's Cape Fold Ecoregion (CFE) – a Mediterranean region in the south-west corner of the country.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder of the brain that ultimately results in the death of neurons and dementia. The prevalence of the disease in the world is increasing rapidly. In recent years, many studies have been done to automatically detect this disease from brain signals. Method: In this paper, the Hjorth parameters are used along with other common features to improve the AD detection accuracy from EEG signals in early stages.
Objective: To explore and describe norms concerning maternity, femininity and cisgender in lesbian and bisexual women and transgender people (LBT) assigned female at birth, with an expressed fear of childbirth (FOC). Design: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with self-identified LBT people with an expressed FOC. Participants: 17 self-identified LBT people participated. 15 had an expressed FOC, and two were non-afraid partners. Findings: Participants described how their FOC was related to ideals of “the primal woman”, including ideals of a natural birth.
It has recently been proposed that short-term memory (STM) binding deficits might be an important feature of Alzheimer's disease (AD), providing a potential avenue for earlier detection of this disorder. By contrast, work in Parkinson's disease (PD), using different tasks, has suggested that the STM impairment in this condition is characterised by increased random guessing, possibly due to fluctuating attention.

Background: The aim of this study is to use classification methods to predict future onset of Alzheimer's disease in cognitively normal subjects through automated linguistic analysis. Methods: To study linguistic performance as an early biomarker of AD, we performed predictive modeling of future diagnosis of AD from a cognitively normal baseline of Framingham Heart Study participants. The linguistic variables were derived from written responses to the cookie-theft picture-description task.
