Solar light-driven water splitting provides a promising way to store and use abundant solar energy in the form of gaseous hydrogen which is the cleanest chemical fuel for mankind; therefore this field has been attracting increasing attention over the past decades. In this mini review, the authors disentangle the progress to develop photocatalysts with good photon uptake from photocatalytic water splitting performance, advancing SGDs 7, 9 and 13.
Here, we examine potential contributions of trophic ecology to coral restoration. We provide a comprehensive review of coral reef restoration literature to quantify how these pathways have been considered by restoration practitioners to date and how they have been applied to enhance restoration success.
Contributing to SDGs 7 and 13, this article shows how a renewable energy transition can be made possible (and economically viable) through grid-scale storage of electricity.

Buildings consume vast amounts of energy and pollute the environment in various ways but façades can play a significant role in reducing energy consumption and alleviating buildings' negative impacts on the environment. Through a case study of Shiraz, Iran, this article discusses how using smart materials in buildings' facades can help dramatically to attain SDGs 7, 9, 11 and 13.
This article supports SDGs 2, 13, and 15 by showcasing how the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) payments should be distributed and monitered for rural development, supporting both the European Green Deal and green COVID-19 recovery.
