In this editorial overview, we provide mini-reviews of insects' utility to achieve the SDGs, taking examples from both temperate and tropical countries.
Contributing to SDGs 5 and 16, this study reviewed forensic records of sexual assault examinations carried out in different Italian health facilities and correlated these findings with the results of the forensic DNA analyses.

To better understand how gender impacts parliamentary representation, the authors analysed representative claims made by parliamentarians in India, the world's largest democracy. Applying critical frame analysis to plenary debates in the Indian Rajya Sabha, the paper examined four parliamentary bills addressing violence against women and children under four successive governments between 1999 and 2019, contributing to SDGs 5 and 16.
The article examines the way in which artificial intelligence based decision making technologies assess individuals within society to reach a decision. These tools often have elements embedded within them which result in a decision which is disadvantageous to groups who have historically experienced discrimination, disadvantage, disempowerment and marginalisation including (but not limited to) people with disabilities. Contributing to SDGs 3, 4, 9, 10 and 16, the authors recommend that legislature should respond accordingly by identifying contexts in which it is mandatory to employ human decision-makers and by enacting the relevant legislation.

Working in a SARC is stressful and emotionally difficult work. Contributing to SDGs 5 and 16, this study provides valuable insights about the individual and environmental factors SARC staff believe are required to have a happy and healthy workforce delivering a gold standard of care to victim-survivors of sexual violence.
