End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture

In support of #WorldFoodDay, Elsevier has curated a special collection of free access book and journal content to help raise awareness for water as the foundation for life and food.
Nutrition research benefits from broad and intensive participation by stakeholders. The articles in this special issue demonstrate that understanding participation is complex because it incorporates the dimensions of stakeholders, activity, time, and intensity. Early involvement in research can help prioritize the problems to be addressed, refine the specific research question, and determine acceptable community-based approaches to be used in an intervention. The included papers provide insight into how to define and measure participation, how to explore approaches to encourage participation of direct and indirect beneficiaries, and how participation at different time points and by different stakeholders can validate and support interventions and enhance effectiveness.
This Special Issue highlights publicly available journal articles and book chapters focusing on various humanitarian issues related to the crisis in the Ukraine and other countries.

International Women's day is celebrated every year on 8 March and this year's theme is “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”, recognizing the contribution of women and girls around the world, who are leading the charge on climate change adaptation, mitigation, and response, to build a more sustainable future for all. World Food Day is organized every year on October 16 to bring awareness to how our changing planet affects food production and distribution.

This is a special issue on food systems for children and adolescents with research on food marketing, nutrition and sustaining healthy diets and food supply chains.

World Soil Day (WSD) is held annually on 5 December as a means to focus attention on the importance of healthy soil and to advocate for the sustainable management of soil resources for a food-secure future. In support of this year's theme - 'Keep soil alive, protect soil biodiversity' - Elsevier presents a curated, open access collection of over 60 journal articles to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy soil ecosystems.
Each year, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) celebrates World Food Day on October 16th to commemorate is founding in 1945. World Food Day 2020 is calling for global solidarity to help all populations to recover from the crisis, and to make food systems more resilient and robust so they can withstand increasing volatility and climate shocks, deliver affordable and sustainable healthy diets for all, and decent livelihoods for food system workers. In support of this years theme - 'Grow, Nourish, Sustain. Together' - Elsevier presents a curated, open access collection of 40 journal articles and book chapters focussed on increasing food security and sustainability.
