Contributing to SDGs 7, 9 and 12, this paper explores the possibility for safe discharge of cells using different salt solutions. Corrosion of the cell terminals was limited with bicarbonate and hydrogen phosphate salts. These salts shows a marked improvement in safety when compared to sodium chloride brine discharge, where the cells are compromised within minutes.
The number of countries with a national development plan has more than doubled, from about 62 in 2006 to 134 in 2018. This paper analyses the resurgence of national development planning, identifies the types and content of the plans, and their implications and interactions with the SDGs and the global development agenda.
This book chapter addresses goals 9, 12 and 15 by looking at how green nanotechnology can facilitate sustainable methods leading to reduced environmental impacts, improved conservation, and the protection of resources and human health.

This research develops SDGs 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure), 14 (life below water) and 15 (life on land). A new recycling process of the common plastic polyethylene terephthalate (PET) could help with the urgent problem of ever-increasing amounts of plastic waste in our oceans and the environment.
This study compares different microplastic sampling methods for water, sediment and biota. This supports SDGs 9.5 (enhanced scientific research) 12 (responsible consumption and production) and 14 (life below water).
Waste multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs), containing BaTiO3, Ag, Pd, Ni, and Sn etc., and are a valuable secondary resource. The existing recycling process has great challenges when considering the environmentally friendly and efficient separation and recovery of resources. Contributing to SDGs 7, 9 and 12, this study demonstrates a simple and sustainable process to convert MLCCs into high value-added and efficient photocatalysts, which promises significant benefits for waste utilisation and environmental protection.
This research directly contributes to SDG 3 (good health and wellbeing) and 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure). This paper presents and tests a potential solution for providing refrigerated storage of vital medical supplies to rural communities without connection to electrical grids.

Internet of Things, Volume 5, March 2019, Pages 12-33.

This paper supports SDGs 9 and 11 (industry, innovation & infrastructure and sustainable cities & communities). To deal with the issues of urbanization such as traffic, pollution and waste, new information and communication technologies (ICT) and solutions coming from the Internet of Things (IoT), Edge, Cloud computing and Big Data are brought together to fulfill the vision of Smart Cities.

Contributing to goals 9, 11, 12 and 15, this article calls for an understanding of ecosystem services to be integrated into built environment materials selection.
Despite the great potential of mobile data to support the delivery of the sustainable development agenda across sub-Saharan Africa, access to the data remains a great challenge due to real or perceived barriers. In order to address gaps in timely data that provide information on the SDGs, a multistakeholder workshop was held in Nairobi, Kenya, in February 2019, contributing to SDGs 9 and 17.
