To address SDG 3 target 3.4 (By 2030, reduce by one third premature mortality form non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being), strengthening the delivery of mental healthcare to the most vulnerable populations is critical. This paper explores the experiences of staff working in the National Health Service (NHS) offender health teams to identify sources of adversity that frontline staff encounter when providing healthcare in prison settings. The results highlight sources of adversity that need to be addressed in order to ensure the wellbeing of mental healthcare providers and enable high quality delivery of healthcare to vulnerable populations.

Promoting good health and well-being (SDG 3) through the prevention, treatment and promotion of mental health is essential to sustainable development, particularly as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. This paper explores the psychological implications of suffering for high-risk populations during the pandemic. To strengthen health systems and increase emergency preparedness for future global health threats, the benefits of addressing experiences of suffering in mental health service settings are discussed.

The Sustainable Development Goals call for countries to reduce premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through mental health promotion, prevention, and treatment (Target 3.5) and for health services to be made universally available (Target 3.8). This paper is part of a broad, global effort to build the capacity of health systems in high-need settings to expand access to mental health services by integrating those services into primary care. In South Africa, nurses are at the heart of this integration effort, and our goal was to learn how best to support nurses to integrate mental health services into their work.

This paper explains how much energy is required and consumed during the solar drying of green chilli, and describes the drying kinetics of green-chilli. The results derived and the solar dryer developed are useful to farmers as the payback period is substantially reduced compared to natural convection setups.
