SDG Infographics

Over the past five years, we have used data and analytics to help the research and healthcare communities navigate the sea of research and to put collaboration, both interdisciplinary and international, at the heart of scientific progress on the SDGs.

For the first time, we have published graphics covering all SDGs using data and insights from Scopus and SciVal. These graphics show key metrics for research output, collaboration and impact.

They show growth in research related to all SDGs between 2015 and 2019, and a large wealth of research in SDG 3 Good health and wellbeing. While international collaboration is strong, we see an overwhelming volume of research from high income countries. The SDGs most researched are SDGs with strong relevance for industrialised countries. SDGs that directly seek to reduce the burden of the poorest, however, see limited publication activity.

Elsevier's new report - The Power of Data To Advance the SDGs - features the infographics as part of a wider piece of work exploring the pivotal role that research plays in tackling some of the world’s greatest challenges. For more information and to read the report, click here.
