Elsevier, the global information and analytics business specializing in science and health, is making over 5,000 subscription articles on climate change freely available for a test period. The articles contribute knowledge to advance Goal 13, Climate Action and are available through Mendeley, the reference manager and academic social network.

This special issue contributes to SDG 14 (life below water). Exploring marine ecosystem and conservation research surrounding deep-seabed mining and plastic debris, mangroves, coral reefs, Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), sustainable consumption, and the importance of women in ocean science, developing greater understandings of marine ecosystems and how best to protect them. 

This analysis of 160 cases of artificial intelligence (AI) being used for social good touches on all 17 of the SDGs, with Goal 3, good health and wellbeing, being particularly well documented in terms of AI for good.

This research supports SDGs 2 (zero hunger), 15 (life on land) and 17 (partnerships for the goals). Ecological intensification aims to use ecosystem services (e.g. pollination and pest management) to sustain agricultural production while minimising environmental impact. Kleijn et al. discuss the benefits of ecological intensification and ways that scientists can better communicate these to farmers.

Municipal wastewater is a remarkable energy source but in order to recover the energy present efficiently, it is crucial to up-concentrate the organics in wastewaters. This paper contributes to SDG 7 by providing a comprehensive evaluation of the current practices applied to up-concentrate organic matter, as well as various up-to-date treatment configurations.
This article and video highlights a project between Elsevier and Wageningen University which examines how research impacts society, with a particular focus on SDG 2.
