A great deal of interest has been developed in the field of marine organisms’ bioactivity since the dawn of the natural product research. The use of these natural products, since then developed for the production of nutraceuticals and functional foods. They emerged as a source of vital and potent food and pharmaceutical supplements in the form of omega-3 fatty acids, glucosamine, carotenoids, polyphenols, and polysaccharides. Although oceans account for up to 80% of the earth’s surface, the complete profile of bioactive nature of marine functional foods and nutraceuticals is yet in the initial stages of research. Therefore in this chapter we present reviewed status of the marine ingredients for their cardioprotective and neuroprotective activity, which will strengthen their utilization in food and pharmaceutical field.
