Biodiversity, the fulcrum of life in our seas and on land, is at the heart of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 14 and 15, but there is a critical interconnection with the other 15 Goals - not least on agriculture and food systems for zero hunger (SDG 2), health and wellness (SDG 3), sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11) and the need for urgent climate action (SDG 13).

Join us for the ninth RELX SDG Inspiration Day - a free, online event for thought leaders, corporate representatives, students, investors, government and NGOs to explore issues, gain practical insights and be inspired to take action in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Keynote speakers

Dr. Jane Goodall DBE is an ethologist and environmentalist, Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and a United Nations Messenger of Peace. Guest: Kaddu Sebunya, CEO, African Wildlife Foundation

14:00 – 14:45

The wisdom of indigenous people - the world’s biggest (but least credited) conservationists - and how organisations can foster a closer relationship with nature

While conservation efforts are helping, urgent action is required if we are to reverse the loss of nature this decade. We all have a role to play in building a better future for our wildlife, our climate and for all of us. One way to do this is to learn from indigenous wisdom. People have lived in harmony with nature for thousands of years. They have developed sustainable ways of living that are based on respect for the land and its resources. But how can organisations learn and instil native wisdom, if they even should?

Join Pineapple Sustainable Partnerships at the launch of their think tank: Accelerating Action and Investment in Nature which will harness the resources and skills of large organisations to accelerate nature-based solutions to fight the triple planetary crisis: climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss.

Host: Andy Dewis, Founder and CEO, Pineapple Sustainable Partnerships
