IT IS TIME

The global average temperature has been 1.1°C above the pre-industrial levels since 2019. This year in 2023, we are witnessing and experiencing a growing number of extreme events, from record-breaking heatwaves to devastating floods. Climate change is influencing every one of us. IT IS TIME is a neon sign sculpture created by Alicia Eggert and David Moinina Sengeh (Chief Minister of Sierra Leone since 2023) to create a sense of urgency and ownership about the crisis of climate change. Words flash on and off so the sign reads “IT IS MY TIME,” “IT IS YOUR TIME,” “IT IS OUR TIME,” and “IT IS ABOUT TIME.” The sign was displayed on a trailer and driven around Dallas, Texas, on October 10th,A 2020, as part of a global art action commissioned by TEDCountdown and organized by Fine Acts to accelerate solutions to the climate crisis.
