The Information Age is synonymous with massive data acquisition. If these data are accurate, they help make the process transparent. Only then a judicious decision can be made. Such decision, however, requires a scientific process to optimize various factors that govern a process. The petroleum industry in general, and the drilling engineering industry in particular have been a pioneer of new technologies involving monitoring and data processing.
