Digital health is a growing discipline that invokes technology to provide more efficient and personalized care. In oncology, digital health provides avenues to monitor patients more comprehensively, reduce healthcare costs, facilitate the development of healthcare algorithms, and design more efficient clinical trials. These avenues can be subclassified into patient- and family-facing innovations, like symptom reporting, telemedicine, and supportive care; clinician-facing tools, like risk prediction and diagnostic support; and industrial applications in drug development and clinical trials. This chapter will provide an overview of existing and potential areas of application for digital health in telemedicine, drug development and clinical trial optimization, and predictive analytics and precision medicine.
