Logistics and transportation are needed in many contexts, the humanitarian one being one of them. There are some important contextual features that impact on the possibilities as well as constraints of choices in humanitarian transportation. This article revisits these, providing an overview of the specificities of humanitarian transportation. It also distinguishes that between three main ways the humanitarian transportation chain is set up. Last but not least, it provides an outlook of the foreseeable coming changes in this area.
