Multiple myeloma (MM) represents a genetically and clinically heterogeneous plasma cell neoplasm with a significant patient burden.1, 2, 3, 4 Disease-related complications include bone lesions, bone marrow failure, renal failure, anemia, and immunodeficiency,3 which contribute to reduced life expectancy and severely impaired quality of life.2, 3, 4 MM accounts for approximately 1% of all cancers and is the second most common hematologic malignancy worldwide.5,6 The incidence of MM varies according to sex, age, and race/ethnicity.6
