One of the forms of intervention that have proven to be most effective in facing the growing problem has been the implementation of programs to prevent loneliness. The design of programs for this target group is based on the fact that new social relationships and forms of interaction are built at this stage of life, given the gradual loss of close people or the absence of these relationships due to deficits in society at different stages of the previous life. Therefore, intervention at this time can determine the quality of life and improve the situation of the elderly by fostering an open attitude to change. All of this can be achieved, if the different agents contribute the knowledge to enhance skills and attitudes that favor social participation and interaction, designing both primary, secondary, or tertiary prevention tools, aimed at people in situations of loneliness or at risk of suffering from it.
