Terry Jennings, Head of Rule of Law Development at LexisNexis, answered these questions at a panel discussion addressing Private Enterprise Engagement in the Rule of Law at the Wilson Center on 17th May 2017 in Washington, DC.  The panel was part of a larger programme developed by JUSTRAC, a cooperative agreement between the Rule of Law Collaborative, University of South Carolina, and the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, U.S. Department of State. JUSTRAC serves as a key resource for rule of law practitioners engaged in justice sector programming.

As a former lobbyist, Terry spoke about her past efforts in advocacy being one of the core skills within LexisNexis which has been used to advance the Rule of Law.  Terry provided examples of other key efforts in projects across LexisNexis which helped to make laws transparent, secure access to legal remedy, provide equal treatment under the law and preserve an independent judiciary.  She explained the thought leadership behind the Business for the Rule of Law collaboration that LexisNexis engaged in with the UN Global Compact, and she described the recent efforts to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals through her efforts with the Global Alliance on Reporting Progress on Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies on which Terry serves as a Steering Committee member.
