Dr Jón Atli Benediktsson, Rector of the University of Iceland and President of the Aurora Universities Network, in conversation with Federica Rosetta, Elsevier's VP for Academic & Research Relations, EU, discuss how universities are addressing sustainability and helping accelerate progress towards achieving the UN SDGs.

 

Prof Duncan Ivison, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research) at the University of Sydney, in conversation with Dr Anders Karlsson, Elsevier's VP of Academic Relations for Japan/APAC, discusses the importance of committing to the UN SDGs and the multifaceted way in which the University of Sydney has approached sustainability.

 

Prof Mirjam van Praag, President of VU Amsterdam, talks with Dr Michiel Kolman, Senior VP for Research Networks at Elsevier, about the role of research and the research enterprise in addressing the SDGs as individual universities as well as a coalition of universities. She also discusses bridging the gap between research, policy and the wider public.

 

Prof Mitsunobu Kano of Okayama University, Deputy Science Advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs in Japan, in conversation with Dr Anders Karlsson, Elsevier's VP of Academic Relations for Japan/APAC, discusses how universities can serve as the bridge between research and society, and how Okayama University has spearheaded SDGs work in Japan.

 

Prof Göran Finnveden, former Vice President for Sustainable Development at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, in conversation with Federica Rosetta, Elsevier's VP for Academic & Research Relations EU, discusses the role of universities in education, research and collaboration to drive progress in sustainability.

 

Prof Veena Sahajwalla, Founding Director of the Centre for Sustainable Materials Research & Technology at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, in conversation with Dr Anders Karlsson, Elsevier's VP of Academic Relations for Japan/APAC, discusses how her research in recycling and materials science, such as the "green steel," relates to UN SDG 12 and beyond; the importance of collaborations with industry; and how research and innovation can propel us towards the achievement of the SDGs.
