Background: Various retrospective studies have reported on the increase of mortality risk due to higher diurnal temperature range (DTR). This study projects the effect of DTR on future mortality across 445 communities in 20 countries and regions. Methods: DTR-related mortality risk was estimated on the basis of the historical daily time-series of mortality and weather factors from Jan 1, 1985, to Dec 31, 2015, with data for 445 communities across 20 countries and regions, from the Multi-Country Multi-City Collaborative Research Network.
The greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of the marine sector were around 2.6% of world GHG emissions in 2015 and are expected to increase 50%–250% to 2050 under a “business as usual” scenario, making the decarbonization of this fossil fuel-intensive sector an urgent priority. Biofuels, which come in various forms, are one of the most promising options to replace existing marine fuels for accomplishing this in the short to medium term.
Technology can be used to target hotspots of marine plastic pollution. The Inventory is a tool to identify plastic pollution prevention and cleanup technologies.

Concepts of Advanced Zero Waste Tools, Present and Emerging Waste Management Practices, 2021, Pages 23-43

This book chapter addresses SDG 11 and 13 by explaining the Zero Waste Certification (ZWC) process and how it checks how organizations can carry out the reduction of nonhazardous waste and try to recycle. It is a long process that involves focusing both upstream processes and policies by implementing zero waste practices in the industries.
This chapter advances SDG 6, 12, and 13 by examining the emergence of water sustainability aspects in recent virtual water trade (VWT) literature, highlights the recent advances and remaining issues in evaluating the water sustainability of agriculture globally, and makes recommendations for future scientific research and societal change: consider groundwater both at the local scale and at the global scale; improve our understanding of groundwater storage and dynamics with new models and data; and raise the profile of groundwater sustainability in governance frameworks to eventually end environmental damages of groundwater exploitation.
This chapter advances SDG 6, 12, and 13 by explaining the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) and GRACE Follow On (GRACE-FO) missions that have greatly benefitted the modeling and monitoring of groundwater storage changes and drought at the global scale. In this chapter, we first review environmental controls on the temporal variability of groundwater using in situ data. We then describe an approach that infuses GRACE and GRACE-FO observations into a land surface model for assessing groundwater storage changes and drought globally.
This chapter focuses on genetically modified crops that can aid farmers in increasing crop resilience and productivity. While their safety and ethics have raised concern, these promising technologies offer hope for the improvement of food security for global populations, especially those in under-developed or developing countries.

Influence of Nutrients, Bioactive Compounds, and Plant Extracts in Liver Diseases, 2021, Pages 41-55

This chapter aligns with the SDG goal 3 of good health and wellbeing by examining all possible hepatoprotective activities of natural products and plant extracts that lessen hepatitis C.
This book chapter addresses SDGs 2 and 12 by explaining the significance of the GM crop and how it will help save an undernourished population from food insecurity.
Background: Coronovirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) first broke out in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China, in 2019, and now it spreads in more than 100 countries around the world. On January 30th, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a public health emergency of international concern. It was classified as a pandemic by the WHO on March 11, 2020. With the increase in the number of cases reported by various countries every day, the COVID-19 pandemic has attracted more and more attention around the world.
