Nutrition research benefits from broad and intensive participation by stakeholders. The articles in this special issue demonstrate that understanding participation is complex because it incorporates the dimensions of stakeholders, activity, time, and intensity. Early involvement in research can help prioritize the problems to be addressed, refine the specific research question, and determine acceptable community-based approaches to be used in an intervention. The included papers provide insight into how to define and measure participation, how to explore approaches to encourage participation of direct and indirect beneficiaries, and how participation at different time points and by different stakeholders can validate and support interventions and enhance effectiveness.

This study showed that agricultural intensification reduced fungal Shannon diversity and weakened soil multifunctionality, where fungal diversity was the major driver of soil multifunctionality. The Authors suggested that sustaining microbial diversity, especially fungal diversity can reduce the effect of agricultural intensification on soil multifunctionality.

This paper provides 57 site velocity measurements, with interpretation, for the Hatay Triple Junction in the region of the 6 February 2023 M 7.8 Pazarcik earthquake sequence in Southeastern Turkey. Given the significance of this earthquake sequence, and the potential uses for future earthquake predictions, this paper would apply to SDG 15 -Life on land.

This paper synthesized current knowledge of mesoscale eddies and their impacts on the marine ecosystem across the North Pacific and its marginal Seas, across the CCS region , the northeastern North Pacific and the Bering Sea, the western boundary of the North Pacific and marginal seas, and the extratropical open North Pacific. How climate change will modify mesoscale processes remains a key open challenge.

Cell type-specific transcriptional differences between brain tissues from donors with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and unaffected controls have been well documented, but few studies have rigorously interrogated the regulatory mechanisms responsible for these alterations. We performed single nucleus multiomics (snRNA-seq plus snATAC-seq) on 105,332 nuclei isolated from cortical tissues from 7 AD and 8 unaffected donors to identify candidate cis-regulatory elements (CREs) involved in AD-associated transcriptional changes.
