This article was released in honor of International Women's Day as a two-part special examining gender dynamics in infectious diseases and clinical microbiology, featuring discussions on gender bias, workplace challenges, and systemic barriers affecting women in medicine. The episodes directly support UN SDG Goal 5 (Gender Equality) by addressing gender equity issues in healthcare professions and exploring solutions to promote more inclusive, supportive environments for all medical professionals regardless of gender.

Contemporary approaches to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) service resilience-building for climate change in low- and middle-income countries are often not fit for purpose. The current excessive focus on discrete, anticipated risks, such as water shortages due to dry spells and faecal contamination due to flooding, alone is unlikely to be sufficient in sustaining WASH services against future climate change. This is because broader socio-environmental impacts of climate change, such as ecosystem collapse and economic hardship, will be more consequential for WASH services.
This study explores the integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in water distribution networks, identifying opportunities for enhancing information retrieval, improving water quality management, implementing predictive maintenance, and optimizing operations, while also addressing challenges related to data quality, scalability, and the need for expertise in both engineering and AI, ultimately providing insights for water utilities and policymakers on leveraging GenAI responsibly.

World Alzheimer's Day, observed every year on September 21st, is an international campaign to raise awareness and challenge the stigma surrounding Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. With over 50 million people worldwide living with dementia and millions more being diagnosed every year, it is crucial to improve public understanding and provide support for those affected. In this article, we will discuss the significance of World Alzheimer's Day and share ways you can get involved to make a difference.

This study introduces a new, safe, affordable, and non-invasive device designed to detect and monitor early signs of Alzheimer's disease. Unlike traditional tests like MRI or CT scans, this device uses microwaves to examine the brain.

The 30-day Society of Thoracic Surgeons Predicted Risk of Mortality (STS-PROM) has been used to risk-stratify patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Whether surgical mortality risk predicts stroke and neurocognitive outcomes following TAVR is unknown. We evaluated the association between STS-PROM and clinical outcomes, including stroke, acute brain injury on diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DW-MRI), and cognitive decline in patients undergoing TAVR.
