Alzheimer’s disease is the most frequent form of dementia. It remains largely under-treated in the affected population. The global burden of Alzheimer’s disease is increasing in the age group beyond 65 years. It is evolving as the major public health problem. Multiple causes are involved in the pathology of Alzheimer’s disease. Its precise etiology is still obscure. But improvement in medical technologies has resulted in better understanding of the etiopathogenesis of the disease. Latest developments in the field of clinical diagnosis and pharmacotherapeutics have provided hope to ameliorate the behavioral changes and cognitive disturbances associated with the disease.
