Enormous amounts of agri-food waste are generated in the open market, especially in sub-Saharan African cities. This work reports the system optimisation of the management of these open-market food wastes for producing bioenergy and value-added materials and also evaluates the environmental impacts of the selected waste processing routes. It supports decision-making on the management of food waste in developing countries furthering SDG 7, 8 &13.
The paper proposes that Alzheimer's disease may be the consequence of a maladaptation to an evolutionary-based survival pathway triggered by fructose metabolism, which initially helps preserve critical brain functioning during starvation but becomes injurious when engaged for extensive periods. Although more studies are needed on the role of fructose metabolism and its metabolite, uric acid, in Alzheimer’s disease, it is suggested that both dietary and pharmacologic trials to reduce fructose exposure or block fructose metabolism should be performed to determine whether there is potential benefit in the prevention, management, or treatment of this disease.
Our results suggested that the therapeutic effects of NFP on AD were associated with synaptic- and mitochondrial-related pathways, and they provided targets for further rigorous studies on precise understanding of the molecular mechanism of NFP.
This study supports SDG's 9 and 13 through its discussion of the effects of optimizing Municipal Solid Waste management systems by increasing waste collection coverage and implementing diverse streams of waste valorization, causing a decrease of atmospheric pollution.
Studies on the distribution of microplastics in aquatic environments are summarized and environmental and anthropogenic factors affecting microplastic toxicity are reviewed

The purpose of this study was to investigate barriers in accessing care for infertility in Mexico, because little is known about this issue for low and middle-income countries, which comprise 80% of the world’s population.
Introduction and Objectives: In clinical trials, patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype (GT)1a infection and baseline resistance-associated substitutions (RASs) at amino acid positions 28, 30, 31, or 93 receiving elbasvir/grazoprevir for 12 weeks achieved lower rates of sustained virologic response (SVR) than those without baseline RASs. SVR rates in patients with RASs were improved when elbasvir/grazoprevir treatment duration was extended from 12 to 16 weeks and administered concomitantly with ribavirin.
