This article highlights the winning proposals of the fifth edition of the Elsevier Foundation Green & Sustainable Chemistry Challenge. The winning proposals were chosen for their innovative green chemistry aspects and their large positive impact on the environment, contributing to SDGs 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14 and 15.
Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread violations of human rights. Global estimates published by WHO indicate that about 1 in 3 (35%) of women worldwide have experienced either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime. Since 1981, Women's rights activists have observed November 25th as a day against gender-based violence. During the last decade, there has been both academic and industry interest in devising technologically advanced solutions for the improvement of mobility of people with a lower-limb amputation. This is due to the increased number of lower-limb amputees and the fact that the majority of current prosthetic solutions are energetically passive devices that are unable to restore full mobility to lower-limb amputees. This book chapter addresses SDG 10 by focusing specifically on lower limb prosthetics for amputees.
