Strategies are urgently required to ensure long term maintenance of current levels of global insect diversity. Yet insect diversity is huge and immensely complex, with many species and individuals making up an important part of compositional and functional biodiversity worldwide. As only a fifth of all insects have been scientifically described, we have the task of conserving largely what is unknown. Inevitably, this means that there are various challenges and shortfalls to address when we aim to future-proof insect diversity.

The Climate Change supplement to the 'Sustainability Science in a Global Landscape' report provides analysis of the top trends in a shifting research landscape in relation to climate change. Understanding the sustainability research environment is critical to advancing SDG 13.2 to integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies and planning.

Held at La Galerie des Solutions (by World Efficiency Solutions), an exhibition of climate solutions, that took place during the COP21, in immediate proximity to the negotiations zone.

Three billion cups of tea are drunk each day; it's the world's second most popular drink after water. Yet tea workers are often targeted by human traffickers and coerced into forced labour, domestic servitude and in some cases the sex industry. This report looks at the tea industry in Kenya, Sri Lanka and India to highlight supply chain issues and working conditions, to contribute to the advancement of SDG target 8.7 to eradicate forced labour, end modern slavery and human trafficking by 2025.

This paper attempts to investigate the impact of economic growth and CO2 emissions on energy consumption for a global panel of 58 countries using dynamic panel data model estimated by means of the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) for the period 1990-2012. We also estimate this relationship for three regional panels; namely, from Europe and North Asia, Latin America and Caribbean, and Sub-Saharan, North African and Middle Eastern. The empirical evidence indicates significant positive impact of CO2 emissions on energy consumption for four global panels.

In recent years, several emerging technologies in the domain of solid-state physics have been investigated as serious alternatives for future refrigeration, heat pumping, air conditioning, or even power generation applications. These technologies relate to what is called caloric energy conversion, i.e., barocalorics, electrocalorics, magnetocalorics, and elastocalorics. Of these technologies, the greatest progress has been observed in the domain of magnetic refrigeration.
