Applied Soil Ecology, Volume 189, September 2023, 104900

This study showed that agricultural intensification reduced fungal Shannon diversity and weakened soil multifunctionality, where fungal diversity was the major driver of soil multifunctionality. The Authors suggested that sustaining microbial diversity, especially fungal diversity can reduce the effect of agricultural intensification on soil multifunctionality.

One Earth, Volume 6, 21 April 2023

This article advances SDG # 13, 1 and 11 by identifying ways to meet the dual objectives of poverty eradication and staying within the biophysical safe operating space of the climate via integrated policy packages supporting strong economic development, ambitious educational attendance, sustainable dietary choices, low fossil fuel consumption and energy demand, and lower fertilizer consumption.

The Lancet Public Health, Volume 8, April 2023

This Article supports SDG 3 by showing an association between some types of unpaid work (housework and caring for adults) and negative effects on mental health. Other types of unpaid work (childcare for women and outdoor work for men) were associated with positive effects on mental health. The authors note that, although tasks such as housework and care duties are necessary, the disproportionate burden of such tasks on women should be addressed.

Transplantation and Cellular Therapy, Volume 29, April 2023

This mixed methods study evaluated the experiences and perceptions of adult patients before, during, and after allogeneic HSCT as a cure for SCD. SCD patients generally experience improvement of physical, mental, and social health and are able to pursue life goals after HSCT. However, the new post-transplantation reality also confronts patients with challenges that potentially can influence their HRQOL.

Tectonophysics, Volume 854, 5 May 2023, 229819

This paper provides 57 site velocity measurements, with interpretation, for the Hatay Triple Junction in the region of the 6 February 2023 M 7.8 Pazarcik earthquake sequence in Southeastern Turkey. Given the significance of this earthquake sequence, and the potential uses for future earthquake predictions, this paper would apply to SDG 15 -Life on land.

The Lancet Planetary Health, Volume 7, March 2023

This Personal View supports SDGs 3 and 13 by developing a framework to maximise the influence of the health community on decarbonisation and identifying practical approaches by which to implement this framework.

The Lancet Global Health, Volume 11, March 2023

This Comment article supports SDGs 3 and 13 by highlighting the need for more global-level studies across different climate zones to determine the true nature of the association between temperature and Shigella infection, particularly in the context of extreme heat and heat waves induced by climate change.

Progress in Oceanography, Volume 212, March 2023

This paper synthesized current knowledge of mesoscale eddies and their impacts on the marine ecosystem across the North Pacific and its marginal Seas, across the CCS region , the northeastern North Pacific and the Bering Sea, the western boundary of the North Pacific and marginal seas, and the extratropical open North Pacific. How climate change will modify mesoscale processes remains a key open challenge.

Background: The current investigation aimed to assess the mental health burden on healthcare workers during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A link to an online survey was sent to an estimate of 18,100 employees of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STH) who had access to email. The survey was completed between 2nd and June 12, 2020.1390 healthcare workers (medical, nursing, administrative and other professions) participated in the first survey. Data from a general population sample (n = 2025) was used for comparison.
