Lactation invokes homeorhetic processes to ramp up and supply milk synthesis components to fulfil nutritional, immunological and microbiological requirements of developing offspring, overseen by complex neuroendocrine networks. The maternal gut meets these intense metabolic demands, supported by hyperphagia and rapid adjustments to process larger food quantities. This research seeks to help mothers and clinicians better understand the hormonal components of their diet, gastrointestinal and other biological drives toward essential nutrient flow to their infants via lacatation.

In the context of increasing sex differences in psychiatric disorders over time, it is urgent to reduce the sex differences in psychiatric disorders. The findings that sex differences in psychiatric disorders exist almost across the whole life emphasized the adoption of gendered mental health prevention strategies and consistent risk factor management over the lifecourse. The variation of such differences across age and socioeconomic status suggests that the current knowledge - females predominate in internalizing disorders and males predominate in externalizing disorders - can be improved by incorporating information on age and socioeconomic status.

The status of gender equity at universities is often evaluated via statistical data such as the proportions of women faculty members and students. However, given that women are still a minority in decision-making positions while gender parity has been achieved in most countries for students, simply increasing the proportion of women alone is not enough to ensure a truly gender-neutral (gender bias-free) academic climate on campuses, i.e., continuous efforts are required to create an environment that promotes the active participation of women.

Throughout the 19th century in southern Brazil, as in the whole country, girls received a poorer mathematical education than boys. Historical records of this education are scarce. The first systematic opportunity for girls to progress beyond basic arithmetic was by pursuing training as elementary school teachers. Most indigenous women in the sub-Himalayan region of Northern Bengal have been engaged in wage labor within tea gardens. The payment system within these gardens has often lacked transparency, resulting in these workers receiving compensation below the legal minimum wage. This persistent uncertainty has had a profound impact on social behavior and self-satisfaction among the workforce. Notably, no prior study has explored the quality of life experienced by these women workers through a comprehensive examination of their perceptions, determinants, and narratives.

This paper outlines recent research and highlights the need to improve the visibility and equality for women in surgery, biomedical and clinical research. Specifically, it details the current landscape for women in surgery, vision and eye research, the need for reform, potential strategies and the efforts of the Women in Vision and Eye Research Ireland to drive social change through a women's conference and award of a prize for research excellence.

Using a collaborative ethnographic action-oriented approach, we researched the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of three vulnerable groups of female labour migrants in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Our goal was to understand the health challenges faced by these women and work towards effective interventions and services. Their issues often emanate from deep-seated structural inequalities, as well as legal, socio-cultural, political, and economic factors. In this article, we highlight the interconnected and overlapping - tangible and intangible - societal impacts that arose both as a consequence of our study and as inherent components of the research process in both the short and long term.

While there is an extensive and substantial body of epidemiological research on gender-specific differences regarding the prevalence, persistence, and comorbidity of Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD) in childhood and adolescence, empirical research on inclusive education largely lacks a differentiated and gender-sensitive research approach. However, initial empirical findings indicate that girls with internalizing behavior problems are to be considered a particularly vulnerable group in school regarding their social integration, their self-concept, their well-being in school and their perception and interpretation of social interaction processes. Can girls with internalizing behavior problems thus be referred to as the 'forgotten gender' of empirical research on inclusive education?

In this study, we investigate the motherhood penalty in Brazil by tracking mothers in administrative databases from the years before to after the birth of the child. In particular, we analyze the wage trajectories using econometric models to estimate the counterfactuals if these women had not been mothers. In doing so, we have to take into account a Brazilian peculiarity: there is a government policy that allows mothers to opt for self-employment in order to spend more time with their children. After adapting our modeling to this specificity, the estimated wage losses of mothers are around 25% and 10% when the children are of infant and school age, respectively. The message in terms of social impact is that it is necessary to help mothers to return to the labor market after childbirth under the same conditions and with the same opportunities for professional development as before pregnancy. We believe that this support can be provided, for example, through better childcare policies in society.
