Relying on traditional methods of energy production based on fossil fuels is not possible in the long term because not only those resources are limited, but also they are expensive and create pollution; these are mostly the reasons for the use of clean energy. Nowadays, the use of new energy, especially the energy of ocean waves, has found a special place in the world. In this research, a detailed and comprehensive report of advanced research on the Wells turbine productivity improvement has been proposed. So, articles written in this field are divided into three categories: entropy production, turbine geometry, and cluster control, as well as aerodynamic and maximum output power plus comprehensive studies on the Wells turbine. In this chapter, the procedures and research methods aim at increasing the performance and efficiency of the Wells turbine. It also reviews the articles on Wells turbine performance that may impede future confidence in such systems in the renewable energy sector.
