Mangrove forests are found on sheltered coastlines in tropical, subtropical, and some warm temperate regions. These forests support unique biodiversity and provide a range of benefits to coastal communities, but as a result of large-scale conversion for aquaculture, agriculture, and urbanization, mangroves are considered increasingly threatened ecosystems.

Beyond their traditional use as green solvents, new applications have become available for ionic liquids (ILs) in drug delivery. Their flexible tunability enables task-specific optimization of ILs at molecular level. Thus, ILs have been exploited to improve the solubility and permeability of drugs and relieve the polymorphic problems associated with crystalline active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). Controlled preparation of drug nanocarriers are also achieved by using ILs either as media or as functional agents.

Despite a global understanding that indicators and outcomes of cardiovascular disease (CVD) are known to differ between men and women, uptake of the recognition of sex and gender influences on the clinical care of women has been slow or absent. The Canadian Women's Heart Health Alliance (CWHHA) was established as a network of experts and advocates to develop and disseminate evidence-informed strategies to transform clinical practice and augment collaborative action on women's cardiovascular health in Canada.

Cardiovascular causes have been estimated to be responsible for more than two thirds of the considerable mortality attributed to air pollution. There is now a substantial body of research demonstrating that exposure to air pollution has many detrimental effects throughout the cardiovascular system. Multiple biological mechanisms are responsible, however, oxidative stress is a prominent observation at many levels of the cardiovascular impairment induced by pollutant exposure.

This study supports SDG 3 and 10 by highlighting the increased prevalence of diabetes and gestational diabetes in Indigenous women compared with non-Indigenous women, across Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the USA. These findings highlight the need for system-wide and structural interventions to reduce the risk of diabetes and gestational diabetes in Indigenous women before, during, and after pregnancy.

Achalasia cardia is a primary motor disease of the esophagus characterized by failure of lower oesophageal sphincter (LES) relaxation and eventual loss of normal oesophageal peristalsis. This study finds that laparoscopic Heller myotomy and anterior Dor is both safe and effective as a definitive treatment for treating achalasia cardia with a high degree of patient satisfaction with minimal complications, and it supports SDG 3 Good health and wellbeing

Background: Since 1979, mortality from hepatocellular cancer (HCC) has doubled in the United States (US). Lifesaving drugs, prohibitively expensive for some, were approved and marketed to treat hepatitis C virus (HCV), a major risk factor for HCC, beginning in 1997. After the prior introduction of other lifesaving innovations, including active retroviral drug therapy for human immunodeficiency virus and surfactant for respiratory distress syndrome of the newborn, racial inequalities in their mortalities increased in the US.

Multiple symmetric lipomatosis (MSL) was responsive to non-surgical interventions. Introduction of lifestyle interventions coincided with dramatic improvement in MSL. This self-initiated N of 1 intervention was for MTTK c.8344A>G associated MSL Serendipitous finding of similar efficacy in a sibling was the basis for this study.

Background: There is a general lack of recommendations for and basic information tailored at sexologists and other health-care professionals for when they encounter trans people in their practice. Aim: We present to clinicians an up-to-date overview of clinical consensus statements on trans health care with attention for sexual function and satisfaction. Methods: The task force consisted of 7 clinicians experienced in trans health care, selected among European Society for Sexual Medicine (ESSM) scientific committee.
